Pastor Link B. Briggs, Sr. is the youngest of the three children of Deacon Esther and Ivy Briggs. He was born in April of 1964 and grew up there. He accepted Christ at an early age under the pastoral supervision of Rev. Joel L. King, Sr. here at the Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor grew up participating in most of the youth programs at the church. After graduating from Malabar High School in 1982, he joined the U.S. Army and served for eight years most of which was in Heidelberg, Germany. During this time, he received numerous commendations; the Army Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medals (2), NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Marksman Medal (Rifle M16), Marksman Badge (Hand Grenade), German Armed Forces Marksmanship Badge (Bronze) and the Army Achievement Medal. His military career ended in 1990, and he returned home and reunited with his church home here at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church.

He began a career as a correctional officer at Mansfield Correctional Institution (M.A.N.C.I.) for two years. Another opportunity developed and pastor was afforded the opportunity to become a Mansfield City Firefighter. During his time as a Mansfield City firefighter, he was invited to serve in the union as a Worker’s Compensation representative and Trustee. He was also trained as a Peer Support Counselor and Chaplain while serving as a firefighter. He served as a firefighter for 26 years until he was forced to retire due to health issues. Upon retiring he obtained employment with the Mansfield City School System as a facilitator for the Malabar Afterschool Program. During this time, pastor was an active church member serving in the choir, serving as Deacon, Chairman of the Deacon’s Board, Trustee, Financial Secretary, and Custodian. It was during this time that pastor accepted his calling into the ministry under the leadership of Pastor Clinton N. Hearns.

Pastor also served as the Youth Minister while earning his Associate Degree in Biblical Studies from Omega Bible Institute and Seminary. Having served in those capacities, pastor was led to leave Mt. Hermon and branch out and he united with First Baptist Church “Want to Do Ministries” under the leadership of Pastor Jeff Jones his lifelong friend and colleague.

After serving under Pastor Jones at First Baptist, pastor was led to submit a resume to Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, which to the glory of God he was selected to become Pastor, Elect.
